When a problem is too tough for everyone else, it’s just right for Advanced Computing! D.K. Stepanko and Greg Smid currently fill the role of providing assistance for clients and staff that have computer or networking problems that are outside the capability or expertise of front line Networkers. This position is designed to be a third level of remote support for clients, with a secondary focus on NOC mini projects. Advanced Computing also acts as internal IT support for F12 Networks, including user tickets and assisting in the maintenance of F12’s servers and network infrastructure.
During his downtime, D.K. enjoys stopping line drives with his face as a starting pitcher for the F12 Cursors (our outstanding slo-pitch team). He also likes to spend time at the cottage and acting as Commodore on his boat at Pigeon Lake. When time allows he is serious RPG (role playing game) fanatic with Eve-Online as his game of choice. D.K. started with F12 (formerly SSI Solutions) in December of 2010. His first role was NOC technician, then Hydro POD Team Lead, and was promoted to Advanced Computing last year. His favourite food is “Baba made” perogies, and his favourite music is Power Metal (ugh). D.K.’s certifications include VM Ware, WatchGuard, and he is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).
Greg Smid joined F12 on March 3, 2009. His first position was as a Tier II NOC Tech. He spend time as a field technician, consultant, and finally as Team Lead for the Jolt Pod before moving into Advanced Computing. Greg’s favourite food is grilled cheese sandwiches and Campbell’s tomato soup (made with milk of course and not water). When not solving tough computing issues, Greg likes hiking and juggling. Not necessarily at the same time. Greg is VM Ware certified and Dell Compellent SAN (Storage Area network) certified.
Stay tuned for the next riveting installment of NOC NOC, who’s there?
