FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 21, 2015

F12 Networks, Inc. (“F12”) today announced it has successfully completed and obtained the Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type II and CSAE 5025 Type II Certifications. Auditwerx, an independent auditor and leading provider of Canadian, International, and U.S assurance engagements for services businesses, performed the audit.

The Trust Service Principles (TSC) which SOC 2 is based upon are modeled around four broad areas: Policies, Communications, Procedures, and Monitoring. Each of the principles have defined criteria (controls) which must be met to demonstrate adherence to these principles.

F12’s audit includes a comprehensive set of criteria around the following TSCs:

  • Availability – F12’s datacenters and managed services solution is available for operations and use as committed or agreed to.
  • Confidentially – F12’s datacenters and managed services information that is designated “confidential” is protected as committed or agreed to.
  • Privacy – Personal information is connected, used, retained, and disclosed in conformity with the commitments in F12’s privacy notice and with the privacy principles put forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).
  • Security – F12’s datacenters are protected, both logically and physically, against unauthorized access.

Importance of Certification

Generally speaking, the IT industry is unregulated. However, Managed Service providers need to demonstrate that they have necessary controls for protecting their clients’ data through audited policy and procedures. While many of the large Cloud companies such as Amazon’s AWS, Microsoft, and VMware lever the accreditation and audit process set forth in the SOC 2 Type II, there are few Managed IT Service Providers in the market that provide certified end-to-end IT services. Customers should not only be asking if the datacenter which hosts their data is certified but if the IT company that interacts with that data also certified. This is an important step for all Managed Services companies.

“Certification allows F12 Networks to set ourselves apart from the rest of the market. More importantly this continues with our commitment to our customers to provide industry leading IT support to the SMB market segment,” said Calvin Engen, Director of IT.

“We saw having certifications around privacy and security as an upcoming requirement for many insurance companies that cover IT firms, so we made the decision to obtain our certification not only to be better as a company but before it became mandatory,” added CEO Alex Webb.
